Residential Support Staff

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Certification in the seven core competencies
-
1 year relevant work experience (full time equivalency)
The Ideal Candidate will also have:
-
University Degree in Social Sciences or Diploma in the Human Services Field

Have knowledge and experience in successfully applying the principles and practices of a person centered service model
-
Have a high level of performance and experience supporting people who may be verbally and/or physically aggressive
Further Preference will be given to Applicants who:
-
Have experience in successfully supporting people who have high anxiety levels with aggressive tendencies
-
Have experience in supporting non verbal people who have severe attention seeking behaviors including self-injurious behavior
-
Have experience in successfully supporting and engaging people who become withdrawn
-
Have experience supporting people with a history of elopement
-
Have experience in supporting people who require support with personal care
-
Have experience or are able to create opportunities, motivate and support people to participate in activities of daily living
Applicant must have a valid drivers’ license as well as the use of a safe and reliable vehicle while on shift and be willing to travel.
Applicants must have a proven capacity to build relationships with residents, co-workers, family, other professional support networks and management.
Shifts include days, evenings, awake overnights, and weekends.
