Residential Support Staff
Available January 7, 2018 - Up to one year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Certification in the seven core competencies
-
Oneyears relevant work experience (full time equivalency)
-
Proven capacity to successfully support people who may be physically aggressive and be able to remain calm in a crisis situation
-
Recent certification in CPI (within last two (2) years)
The Ideal Candidate will also have:
-
University Degree in Social Sciences or Diploma in the Human Services Field
-
Have knowledge and experience in successfully applying the principles and practices of Personal Outcome Measures
-
Have a high level of performance and experience supporting people who may be verbally and/or physically aggressive
Further Preference will be given to Applicants who:
-
Have experience in supporting people with severe attention seeking behaviors including self-injurious behavior
-
Have experience in supporting people who have autism
-
Have experience in utilizing non verbal communication tools/techniques and sign language in supporting people with communication barriers
-
Have experience and/or are comfortable in supporting people with regards to sexual orientations
-
Have experience in supporting people who require support with personal care
-
Have experience or are able to create opportunities, motivate and support people to participate in activities of daily living
-
Have training in various behavioral intervention strategies
Applicant must have a valid drivers’ license as well as the use of a safe and reliable vehicle while on shift and be
willing to travel
Applicants must have a proven capacity to build relationships with residents, co-workers, family, other professional
support networks and management.
Shifts include days, evenings, awake overnights, and weekends.
